On the Tuesday before we moved in, I took a break from painting. It was a planned break because the trim had to dry before I could tape it in order to paint the walls. However, if I hadn’t planned a break I probably would have taken one anyways. I was so tired and the walls still had only primer on them. So many days of work for what felt like so small of a result.
When I returned to painting, I quickly taped the trim and started on the walls! The Gossamer Veil color immediately looked more “greige” than grey, but I forged ahead.
Putting color on the walls was the most satisfying part of this painting project. Overall I learned a lot. This day it really solidified for me that I needed to keep a “wet edge.” I think this is where I went wrong with the closet on my first coat of white.
Part of what made this room so slow was the ratio of trim to wall. There are two doors, an enormous window, a smaller window, a closet, and tall baseboards in this room so painting the trim took forever.
I also learned to remove tape while the paint is wet. I ended the day by removing the tape and admiring all our hard work.
