Well, the bathroom is halfway done! I have been at the house painting and unpacking the kitchen while the contractors work on the bathroom. It’s really interesting to see the bathroom take shape. The sheer number of tools at our house right now is unbelievable. There is no possible way we could have done this project ourselves. The amount of specialized knowledge (and tools!) these contractors have is amazing. We only have one bathroom in our house, so this was no time for a DIY project. We need the bathroom to be operational before we move in.

It was relatively operational before, but this was a room we really wanted updated and it would be very difficult to update the one bathroom while living in the house.

Bathroom Before:

Day 1- Demolition!

Check out the lath and plaster walls and knob and tube wiring… They also removed tile that was 1 inch thick!

Day 3- We have a tub!

Day 2 was just plumbing updates and it honestly looked the same to me but I know the guys working on it made SO many important updates!

Day 5- Walls!

Day 7- Starting to tile

Today is Monday but it is the 7th day of work on this project. Kyle worked on Saturday to get the floor tile layed so it could have a day to dry. Under that cardboard it looks amazing! So pretty. On Day 6 I picked up our vanity from Ikea using Click and Collect and the mirror medicine cabinet from Home Depot. I also returned our other marble tile to Home Depot because they said it wouldn’t arrive in time so we picked up different tile. Then it did arrive in time… bummer.

We decided our grout colors today, Silver for the floor and Pearl Gray for the walls. Colin really wanted a contrasting grout color for the subway tile because “otherwise it’s just a white wall and what’s the point of the tile?” Good point, I guess.
